August 2023 will mark our 1 year of being an established 501(c)(3) organization. We cannot thank all of our supporters enough for their unwavering encouragement and financial support. Without you, none of this would be possible. We have enjoyed every moment of working with older adults and their caregivers in our community and cannot wait to continue our reach within WNY.

Mary called Home & Happy a little frantic and stressed out after just hearing news from her mother's rehab center that she is returning home tomorrow. Mary's mother, Beth, is in her 80s and unfortunately had a fall resulting in a fractured shoulder and a few week stay at a rehab center. because of her fracture, she was unable to bear weight through that upper extremity and therefore couldn't use a walker, which is the only way she could get around prior to the incident. Because of this, insurance saw a lack of progress and cut her off prematurely. We quickly reassured Mary we are here to help and can ease this quick transition back home.

We scheduled a Discharge Navigation as soon as possible which consisted of going to Beth's home with her family to review proper layout of their house, suggestions for equipment,  answered any medical questions and what to expect from in-home therapy/nursing.

A couple of days later, we stayed connected with Mary and her family who informed us they discovered they would benefit from a hospital bed to improve Beth's laying position and their body mechanics while assisting her. We were able to provide them one free of charge!  We continue to stay in touch with Beth and her family and provide advice or equipment as needed.
